Founded in 2004 as a hydrographic consultancy, the Amsterdam-based Periplus Group brings a full range of subsea data specialists together under one roof. Periplus Holding was established in 2004 with two subsidiaries, Periplus Resources and Periplus Consultancy. In 2006, Periplus Archeomare was founded, establishing Periplus as a leading hydrographic consultancy firm in the Dutch market and beyond.
Impatient with the lack of good options for storing, analyzing and visualizing subsea data, Periplus recruited a small team of talented full-stack software developers to create software tools for the Periplus team and other offshore operators.
The GRIDit that we see today, a cloud-based geodata platform for subsea data, was formally launched in 2022. We have stayed true to its original purpose as a practical tool for offshore industries. Our software engineers and subsea data team collaborate to identify and address offshore industries’ specific pain points. We are regularly seek ideas and feedback from our customers to ensure that our software products continue to improve. Our mission – to bring the subsea to the surface – means creating software tools that allow the visualization of the subsea environment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
